Peace IV Programme

We were delighted to take part in a Cross Border Programme in 2019 aimed at developing and strengthening relations with border county areas. The PEACE IV Programme is a unique cross-border initiative, financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

It was designed to support peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland. The ERDF also contributes to the promotion of social and economic stability, through actions to promote cohesion between communities.

The Cross-Border programme brought together 200 participants from CC&G representing a broad range of interest groups and stakeholders. These diverse groupings included: coastal issues, rural issues, minority communities, tourism, economic development, culture arts and heritage, sports, environmental initiatives and festivals/traditions.

Naturally North Coast and Glens brought together volunteers from NNCG, The Roe Valley Speciality Market, The Salmon & Whiskey Festival, The Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival and The Causeway Coast Artists. Alongside participants representing The Heart of the Glens Festival we traveled to Letterkenny to the 'Off the Street Food Fest'. We met with volunteers from the festival and the Donegall Food Festival and shared ideas, stories, and made really useful connections that left a lasting legacy for both the participants and the wider community.

From the programme we are currently developing a digital resource, and in the theme of, connections, networking and legacy building we decided to develop a resource that would be helpful to ALL markets, communities and traders within Northern Ireland, which would have value beyond the life of the initial project.

We are looking forward to launching the digital resource early in 2020.....stay tuned for more info...(launch delayed due to Covid-19)
